Can anyone tell me the diffrence between these cards about to place an order for one or the other but i honestly cant find the diffrence other than the metal case?

question: Which X-fi is better?
Answer: neither, they're all rubbish. the Asus Xonar DX is the card for you.

if your after an X-fi never buy anyhing with "wendel's" name on it your payin a premium just for that name.

If yiou have to have an x-fi get the bog standard x-fi music or gamer variant.

, What a Tosh post esp as the OP ain't even stated what the card will be primary for doing.

Ain't got anything constructive to say, best don't say anything TBH.

@ Amps, the Titanium's are new cards for Vista and only available in PCI-E, and the Audio (going by review sites) is said to be as good or better than the Asus cards.

I do not like the Audio (more so on Vista) on my card (in Sig) or any Creative card after the excellent SoundBlaster Live series, but they still are best for Games.

Both companies have crap support so that's a draw.

I might get myself a Titanium, but I would get the Fatality Champion one as I want the front I/O, for my headphones. I have the old Fatality at the moment, but I think it is dying. Sometimes the sound pops and turns off, then slowly fades back in.

Might be because about a month ago I set fire to the front I/O when I didn't plug the power back in properly and it went up in smoke. Melted the cable connecting the soundcard to the front I/O. Also that cable was touching the main motherboard power cable, and melted them together, had to pull them apart :) Lucky just the braiding on the main power cable melted.

Though on this new card I see they moved the optical connections to the back of the soundcard from the front I/O. Bit annoying as it was easier to swap the cable from PC to Xbox 360 with it connecting in the front.

Also I am unsure if it will work anyway, my motherboard seems a bit temperamental at the moment, it wouldn't turn on after my upgrade when the soundcard was in its current PCI socket. So I moved the soundcard to a different PCI and all works. Though the new card is PCI Express, so hope it works :)

The Titaniums are said to be fantastic. But, whether you want to spend the huge amount of money for EAX5 is up to you. Personally, I would save the cash and get the Xonar DX. You probably won't notice the difference in sound, and you'll get emulated EAX, which apparently sounds pretty good.

I went for the X-FI Titanium non Fatal1ty.

I have previously owned an X-FI Gamer but I could never get it to work no matter what driver I used I got bsod even on a clean install of windows.

The X-FI Titanium uses a different driver from the standard X-FI series and it is not pci and I believe has a different processor so hopefully it might work.

I will be honest I do not play games the sound card will be plugged into a NAD C372 powering a set of decent Mission speakers for music use only.

One other thing i only paid £66 from an official online dealer.

Card Received.

Firstly i purchased the card because i assumed the jack at the rear of my audigy was starting to give up the ghost but it turns out the jack was fine it was infact the Qunex J2P cable that was starting to die.

I can only compare this card to an Audigy One and my Technics Seperate Cd player as those are the only 2 bits of kit i have used on this Amp/Speaker combinatation & i have not tried the card in any games.

I would say the card is a noticeable improvement but i was a bit concerned at the start as by default creative turn on allot of wacky features such as "chrystaliser" currently unsure to what that actually does other than add a load of treble and bass.

And for all the DFI UltraD users who had trouble with the PCI Audigy this version works with that board.

+1, never seen anyone with 2000+ post count making such a sweeping statement. Shocking!

i will refrain from commenting but that statement is rather ironic, not referring to you however........

the titaniums seem to me to be pretty well rounded cards. if your more in to gaming than you are audio quality then get the titanium. if its visa versa, get a dx. thats about all i can say these days as i no longer own any sound cards. the xonars excelled with music but you'd need a fair bit of kit too hear any real difference. the titaniums arent all that fair behind and lets be honest are more compatible games-wise.

The price aside and considering its not PCI Express, how dose the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro 7.1 Sound Card compare to others Creative Sound Cards pacificly for gaming?
