I've got an Audigy 2 ZS in my system at the moment.

Is it worth upgrading to an X-Fi card?

And seeing as the Audigy is a decent quality one (practically the whole card is coated in gold!) would I see any drop in audio output quality (rather than 3D sound capabilities) if I went for a cheaper X-Fi (like the OEM one)?

Am I the only one who doesn't think the difference is all that 'immense'? There's a definite improvement; the 24-bit crystalliser is brilliant, but my Audigy 1 wasn't that bad :p

Yes i have to agree, I went from an audigy 1 to an X-Fi and while it sounded better i wouldnt say it was earth shatteringly better

Not a big difference between xfi music and my audigy 2 zs
was very underwhelmed when i upgraded last month.
I would even go as far to say the audigy 2 zs matches it.
As far as i am concerned was a waste of money i advise keep the zs.

Loved my Live 5.1 Player after years of buggy drivers/apps then nightmare getting XP support, the sound was amazing, so much everyone came to my home to hear music being upmixed to 5.1.

Then skipped fake 24bit BS Audigy 1.

Got Audigy 2 its was good overall but not as good sound as Live 5.1.

Got Audigy 2ZS was buggy POS and worst drivers/apps ever, took 3rd party ones to get useable and stop it making noise like a cat being strangles while playing DVD-Audio.

Got X-FI Extreme Music was good but again not as good sound as Live 5.1, too many new added artificial functions, BASS esp unnatural, more of a THUD sound.

Got X-FI Fatal1ty, not sure why but sound was richer and esp BASS, down to DAC's or CAP's I guess.

Still think for music the Live 5.1 was best even if using mode to upmix stereo into 5.1.

tbh honest I' recommend hanging in there until after xmas and see what happens.

It's nice to have a dedicated soundcard, but when something goes wrong it's got something to do with my Audigy more often then not.

More trouble than it's worth.

Does the Fatality pro allow me to plug in 7.1 plus mike/headphones and audio for my external tv tuner?

Currently i cant have both tv tuner and headphones for my headset pluged in on my audigy 2ZS

Just get an adapter (I think there should have been one in the box actually) for the headphones socket, i use it all the time. If not then it only costs like a quid to get one. The other socket I use for plugging in a line in from my guitar or a microphone, the midi ports I'm hoping to use in the near future and I use the L and R aux inputs for connecting games consoles to my pc :)
