I was trying to use optical as I only had 3.5mm optical lead and thought that was the only 3.5mm digital connection possible
It uses coaxial (using 3 adapters to get from 3.5mm to phono )
Its outputs 2ch pcm @ 48/96khz and ac3/dts from dvd which sounds cleaner with no hum which I can faintly hear on the analogue connection
Using the analogue outputs I couldnt get the center channel in movies to work which suggests a bug in the creative dolby decoder
Using the creative control panel the center channel would talk which shows it was working fine but in movies the center channel wasnt being broadcast meaning no dialogue was being heard in dts or ac3 audio
The other channels worked fine which sounded mad in many movies I tried
Bizzarely the only time the center could ever be heard on movies was when i selected external bitstream on the dts panel
I tested this using nvidia's + ffdshow audio filters
Not yet tested my headphones via amp over a digital connection but they sounded good via analogue
