Hello,

I have a ati 4890 card which I've had for a little while ( good card )
i want something a bit more powerful but this is the thing
because the 4890 is such a good card if i were to get another and crossfire them i'd get close to the same performance as a quite high end ati 5800 or something for way less cost

but heres the problem my corsair 650 watt power supply ( sli compliant ) comes with the two pci-e connectors the card comes with a pair of adapters converting two 4 pin plugs to 6 pin plugs for the second card

but in the instructions it shows how to wire up a card and how not to and the picture shows not to use adapters ( which they provide ) to supply power to their card as it wont work properly

so now i'm a bit baffled and need some help

best regards
Ian

hi
thanks for the quick reply i take it they were on about supplying one card using these adapters being not a good idea for people without sli compatable power supplies so no 6 pin plugs at all ?

best regards
Ian

4890 is quite a beast but it should be OK unless all your components are OCed.
They do that because most people use cheap generic PSUs and they might go bang if they connect 2 of those using adapters but the corsair should be ok.
Worst case scenario is that it will be unstable or noisy at heavy load ; ).
