Quick question, am going to be getting my hands on a R9 280X in a few days nad am going to be X-Firing it with my existing 7970.

Question is, which card do I attach my displays too? Will I be ok leaving everything connected to the 7970 and just plug the 280x in, connect x-fire bridge and power and away I go, or will i need to / see any benefit from moving the cabling onto the 280x

You'll be fine either way.
Personally, I'd stick the highest clocker in the top slot for those times when xfire is a no go.

You may also need to uninstall/reinstall drivers when adding the extra card. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't.

Cheers Uncle Petey

Will do the driver removal just to be on the safe side.

At present have the 7970 in the second slot down as was trying to move it as far away from my sound card to remove the mioc noise I have on there, but to no avail.

Will put the 280x into the top slot....guess I will be buying yet more bloody monitor cables then

Only down side is I am running 2 x mini DP and one DVI on the 7970. 280x has 1 x HDMI, 1 x Full Size DP and 2 x DVI.

DVI will be OK, just need a full size DP cable so I can use Eyefinity

Yeah..may be ok as think I have some cables on extensions...will check when I get home.

Randon question Petey, did you ever suffer from the mic interference issue with your Essence?

Not at all, no.

I did have it in the second to last pci slot with the gpu in the uppermost x16 slot though.
Couldn't use it at all when I went xfire as it refused to work when placed in a slot directly next to the bottom gpu :(
