Heya at the moment I have a HIS 6950 and thinking of going for my first try at xfire as I am going to be buying a 30" monitor my questions are these. Do 2 6950's still pull their weight, and if I did go the 2x6950 route do the cards have to match ie 2 HIS's as ive been having a look around to see if I could pick up a 2nd hand HIS 6950 with no lucj No Competitors!

Thanks

Is the 30' monitor a higher resolution? Just because it's bigger it wont make a difference. :p

They don't have to match no doesn't matter what brand it is, will just run at the same clock speed as the slowest one iirc.

Using it myself, I would suggest it's not worth it if you have to pay £150 for the pleasure, if you can get one for ~£110, then the worth gets better imo.

Your other option would be to sell your 6950 and put that into a 7950 and clock the balls off it instead, it won't be that far behind realistically tbh.

If at all you are into modding Skyrim, the extra vram helps as 2Gb can be breached in this title even@1080p.

The 6950 CrossFire setup will be faster, but not 100% of the time while creating more user input than a single gpu setup.

It will not run at the same speed as the slowest card, CF never has.

+1

Go multi GPU when its the only way to get the performance you desire.
