X-Rite calibration devices... Beware!

Funnily enough I only threw out my i1 Display 2 a couple of months ago when I realised that all calibrations were yielding overly green output!

I had it 3 or 4 years and was a bit surprised it became useless so quickly, but at least I got a few years out of it. I kept mine in the box at all times other than when calibrating.

Hopefully the i1 Dispaly Pro I've bought to replace it will last a bit longer.

That's exactly how I keep mine, attached to the light sensor, sat on my desk. The problem is, with organic degradation, elements getting in isn't the cause of the problem. Organic material simply degrades over time... which is why tinned foods have "use by" dates. You can't prevent it from happening... although storing in a vacuum might work.

Hmm interesting, I think I'll order an i1 Display Pro then and compare how different my i1D2 is and probably keep the Pro. It's a more precise colorimeter as well I guess and is sealed so won't degrade after a few years.

I notice the Pro is £168 on Amazon Prime, not a bad price.

Edit*
Used the Display Pro today, the same screen calibrated using i1 Profiler gave a result that looked warmer than the calibration from the i1 Display 2 and Lacie's software. Looks like my Display 2 had an overbearing lean towards the blue end. Sadly the Pro isn't supported by Lacie's software so I can't use both side by side on the same software.
