Been looking for a new chair for ages to chill and watch films as well as gaming etc. This X Rocker Alpha from Argos seemed not too bad, decent reviews kicking about so I went for it. But I wish I had looked at more of the negative reviews...

Firstly, it isn't ergonomic. The separate lumbar cushion is too much and pushes into your back, but without it there is zero lumbar support.

I've had it only one day and already the seat base cushioning is so thin that I can feel the hard base underneath giving me a numb batty after a short while. A little further forward where your legs are and if you push down you can feel the base screws underneath poking right up. Terrible.

It also doesn't sit very high, so my shoulders are now hunched whilst I try to type. The arm rests are weird, why they tilt outwards and inwards I don't know, unless you have some weird alien like body.

It's not worth £170 and a far cheaper chair I got my son from Amazon is much better.

Avoid it at all costs. I'm going to try and return it, but my daughter has repurposed the box so I'm not sure if that will prevent me from doing so. I think they will try and deflect to the manufacturer as well. If I end up not being able to return it an extra cushion will be a must. Maybe I could tuck some foam under the base cover as you can get under there.

I forgot that OC do chairs as well.

A quick update in case anyone else buys this chair, I stuck a few sheets of foam under the seat cushion and this along with installing the lumbar cushion has actually made the chair usable.

Can I also say that I made the mistake of purchasing this chair last year. Wanted something reasonable that I could collect the same day. Yeah never again...
Build quality is shoddy at best, likewise with the seat cushioning, its terrible! I its not so much the thickness of it, its the density and rebound, it just dosnt have any support and even after a night/day dosnt rebound to the same thickness. Hadnt really considered adding foam, but I might see if I can find a denser foam material and give it a shot.
I had to replace the base, as my fat ass? broke the original polymer one. Slightly cracked in between 2 of the legs underneath which allowed the gas cylinder to push through deeper and eventually hit the ground. I ended up replacing it with a generic black metal base from amazon.

Sorry to hear, aye it looked like a great chair and the reviews were majority good as well. The density and rebound of the base is definitely poor. I've also noticed that the seat drops a tiny bit as well. But I'm determined to keep it and make it work!

It was actually this foam roll from Argos that I went back and bought: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8363189?clickSR=slp:term:foam:8:1325:1

Slips under the top cover of the base quite easily, I measured double the width, cut it and folded in half and slipped it in.
