Just noticed this tonight but, Is my X16 PCI-E lane running at X4 ?

:confused::mad::o:rolleyes:

All i can see regarding these X1 X4 X8 and X16 settings is in the BIOS :

PEG and PCI

It was at PCI, Now at PEG and CPUZ still says X4 !

This might explain my BFBC2 rage :D

Are you running 3 gpus???

This MB shares bandwith i belive
1 card will run ar 16
2 cards will both run at 8
3 cards will all run at x4

If you are running just one is it in the top slot?

It's in the top (PCI-E) slot aye. X16 printed next to it.

I only have the one graphics card and no other expansion cards at all.

I did read that about sharing the bandwidth but, X16 X8 X4 (PCI-E) or all at X1 (PCI). There is a setting to force all at X1 (PCI) or 'Auto' (Currently selected) which has the X4 lane running at X4, This would only be if i had a card in that slot though.

The manual says if PEG is selected as the initial display device it is set at X16

PCI = PCI slot
PEG = PCI-E X16 slot
PEG = PCI-E X8 slot
PEG = PCI-E X4 slot

It is set at PEG now although, It has always been at PCI (:rolleyes:) so, Has the device or the drivers determined the X4 speed when i installed ?

Maybe the board thinks there is another card present in one of the other slots ?

I'm going to remove the card or even clear CMOS. That's a whole pain in the !! though.

It's a Gigabyte P55-UD5 socket 1156 motherboard, If anyone has any ideas, Thanks.

try cleanig the pcie slot on your motherboard of dust,etc,this happend to me a few days ago,after the first clean it went up to x8 then i cleaned it again and its back at x16

If that doesn't work try burning some chicken bones :)

(Sorry it was a joke, sound advice - make sure it's seated properly and the contacts are clean)

Just uninstalled it, Booted, Powered down, Dusted the contacts, Inserted the card, Powered on, Reinstalled the drivers and ... It's still X4 !

Burning the whole computer is next on the list, Never mind chicken bones :mad:

Reading about the PCI-E lane switching, It seems my e-SATA and SATA ports share some of this bandwidth, Just trying to see if my SSD would cause any issues (3GB/s drive not 6GB/s).

Anyone any idea about that ? I'm lost between controllers, bridges and switches !

Might post in the general section, It might be an issue not directly involving the graphics card.

EDIT: I also installed the newest Intel chipset drivers. No joy !
