Im thinking of upgrading my daughters pc for her, she currently has a 9800pro installed and im wondering if spending 40 quid on a AGP 1650pro would be worthwhile ? how do the 2 cards compare ?

shes playing BF2 atm and the 98pro handles it ok with no AA/AF but i'd like to add abit of eye candy for her maybe 2aa 4or8af at low res 1024

will that 1650pro handle that ok ?

rest of spaecs are

3200AMD 64
1GB DDR
winxp

or i may just buy her a PCI E mobo and start from scratch

Im not sure what the differance is between a 9800 and a 1650 in BF2 but i would think its quite a lot, my 7800gt could just about run the game at 1280x1024 4xaa and i think the x1650xt ddr3 is close to 7800gt so a x1650pro ddr2 might struggle.
That system should be fine for low res gaming, id just add another 1gig and look out for a used x850xt,x1950pro or a x1650 ddr3.

I dunno about at that res but I can play most my games at 1680/1050 on medium =/, dont have battlefield 2 though and I have the PCIE version of the card. I wouldn't say it's worth paying much more though for an aging pc (I payed £35 for my pcie 1650 with others I missed at £25

I have the HIS 1650 Pro AGP card which I ugraded from a old Radeon 8500.
I play BF2 at 1024 x 768 with good framerates.
It also handles just about any other game I have thrown at it on Medium/High settings including World In Conflict and Warhammer Mark of Chaos.
If you are looking for a cheap upgrade then it will do the trick.
