I have an old AGP system and i'm just searching for a bargain card just to play some older games. I have the option of the X1650 512mb pro or a X800XT 256MB platinum edition. The XT is 2nd hand and the X1650 is brand new and they are both £30. I'm not clued up on graphics cards, especially ATI, so just wondering which one would be best to get?

I'd go for the X1650 Pro. Whilst they'll be similar in raw performance, the lower power draw and extra features (SM 3.0!) of the X1650 Pro would make it the better buy.

Depends if you want to play any Shader Model 3 exclusive games (only recent titles).

If you want to use this system for playing older Shader Model 2 titles, the x800xt will be quite a bit faster. It has better fill rates and higher memory bandwidth with its 256bit design.

Plus it will play older games better than a x1650 pro, especially paired with older drivers like the 5.12's.

The x1650 will run cooler and probably use less power; it's brand new and may prove more reliable than a second hand x800xt, especially if it's an x800xt with the standard cooler.
