Well, it all started when I thought it'd be a good idea to update Catalyst from 7.2 to 7.3 on my X1800. So after rooting around for Driver Cleaner Pro, I uninstall the ATi Display Driver, the ATi Catalyst Centre, and the Software Uninstall Utility. I then boot into safemode, run DCP which gets rid of it all like it should. I go back into normal desktop, and I run CCleaner - and I think I may have 'cleaned' something important, because Catalyst doesn't want to install.
First time I double-clicked on the .exe for 7.3 nothing happened - next time I did it, the usual install path and whatever came up, so I click okay - and it does it's little extracting thing, but then after that, and the window closes - nothing. It doesn't install. The installation program does not start. I click it a few more times, going through the same thing.
I went to my Devices in System, and for some reason the X1800 Secondary was there alone, saying it could not start 'cause of some Code 19. And apparentley there are no drivers. So I uninstall it through there and I notice some "VGA" thingy down the bottom which was never there before, so I uninstall that too.
I re-download the Catalyst software, and it does it's thing, except it brings up an error - something about setup.exe and gives me the option to Retry, Abort or Ignore. I clicked Retry - error comes up again. So I click ignore and it goes on through and hooray! The installation program comes up. But just as it's about to install...
and this comes up...
So currently I'm stuck at some crappy resolution, with the screen jolting around when I scroll with no drivers or display adaptors coming up in Devices.
What's gone wrong? And what can I do to fix it?
EDIT: Seems to be working now - went into the C:/ATi/SUPPORT/7-3_xp_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_43743 folder and ran the 'Setup' file in there - and it seems to have worked.
