Sometime ago someone posted very impressive overclocks with an x1800XL, mine is the HIS brand and I am having a few overclocking troubles.

I looked for the initial thread but it has long gone. I have an X1800XL and have had limited success with ATI tool and using the voltage modifier have got 1360 on the ram at 2.108 volts on the MVDDC and 2.001 volts on the MVDDQ. Don't know if I should push it anymore on stock cooling and with the fan at 85% it cools to 68 degrees under full load.

The times I have played with the core has just resulted in crashing, what COULD I safely put the core up to voltage wise? I have tried 1.250?

Thanks.

That's with 1.17v through core and 2.24v through memory ;)

The reason you're crashing because of the core, is the fact you have a bugged GFX card. It won't take voltage above 1.19v on the core really, any higher and it'll just crash when you enter anything 3d. As long as you stay below 1.2v you'll be fine. :)

Thank you A RANDOM NAME. I gave it a quick go at 550 and 670 and got 15098 on 3d mark 03, is that about right?

X1800XL 550 and 670
2 gig ram
3700+ Clawhammer @2.5 gig

Sounds alright :)

Just push it to the most you can, but i'm using a Zalman heatsink so i'll get quite a bit cooler temperatures compared to you. Just don't go crazy on stock cooling ;)
