X1800 XT

I have a machine with an X1800 XT 512 meg and was wondering what the best overclocks I could expect from it were? also how does the card compare to the 8600GT?

Its faster than the 8600 GT by quite a bit.

Not sure on the overclock, but they were pretty good clockers.

the 8600GT has DX10 whereas the x1800 is only DX9, I think that the X1800 may slightly outperform the 8600GT,

that's only 1 random thing i chose and the x1800 does outperform the 8600GT

The XT is much more powerfull. It remains to be seen if the 8600gt makes any sense, as it probably does not have the power to actually utilise dx10 at maximum settings while the 1800xt will play max settings at dx9 and so look better..

a good example of the card will max out the ATI OD clocks with ease. most give up not much afetr that tho.

i can get about 725/820 from mine for core/mem, watercooled with a slight core voltage boost. mines not a good card. some have seen 800+ from core and close to 900 ram iirc....

Agreed. my old x1800xt did 725/900. But I have seen people running them up to 800+/900+ however this may only have been for benchmarking. Temperature wise they are stable untill you start hitting 100C and then they fail rather quickly. At least mine did anyway.
