Hello all.

I have a 3800+ (2.4) cpu and a Radeon X1800xl GPU. I can't clock the cpu for toffee (mobo limitations). I am contemplating buying the DFI lan party 939 mobo for £35 (probably back upto £45 now). This will enable me to clock the cpu a little and as it is crossfire compatable I thought about a couple of X1650XT's. I think the likelyhood of me getting an X1800 master card is rare at best.

Am I just wasting money and should really stick with what I have or should I go for it and buy the board and get the X1650XT's? will there be much if any performance gain over the X1800XL?

I also have 2 gig ram and a 580W Hyper PSU.

Thanks.

The X1800 XL is definatly faster than a X1650 XT (and by quite a bit too) and even with two I don't think it'd be worth it to be honest (along with the additional heat/space/power/driver issues). My vote is just stick with what you have, it is a decent enough card and shouldn't struggle with anything you throw at it (same goes for the CPU) :)

I'd buy the DFI RDX LanParty as mentioned, and not bother with an X1650XT. The X1800XL is quicker.

The DFI will allow you to clock the 3800+ further. Also worth buying an aftermarket graphics card cooler, using ati tool/ati overclocker/ati tray tools voltmod and overclock the XL nearer XT speeds :)
