I have a Sapphire X1800XT 256mb and was wondering if it's possible to flash it to a X1800XT PE BIOS although I only have 256mb of RAM on the card?

If you do try it - could you tell the rest of us the results?

I'm too scared to try it now, I've never flashed a video card BIOS before and I want to be sure I don't render the card unusuable. Also, I don't have a spare PCI card to use to flash the card back to the original BIOS if it goes t1ts up.

the card will be usable i reckon, if things go wrong though it will take a reflash. get a pci card first if you plan to do it ;)

Or RMA it! :D Personally I've never done it of course, just don't use rabit folks! :p

hehe dont do it :)

i did it but i had the 512XT card to begin with so it worked flawlessly for me but on a 256DDR card its death heaven, well unless you have a pci card to reflash it back.

one other thing, check your card and have a look under the red long heat spredder and find out how meny power capasitors it has if it has a full set and none missing then it should be a better clocker aswell.

Picture example only :

as you can see there is 1 missing from this card just beside the red long spredder. this was a X1800GTO picture though just to show you what i mean hehe.
