X1800XT 256mb Incorrect Speeds

I've just recently bought the X1800XT 256mb - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_X1800_Series_705.html#agx_2d121_2dsp

It says the memory runs at 1500MHzz and the GPU runs at 625MHz but I'm not getting these figures when looking in the Catalyst Control Center. I've getting 594MHz for GPU speed which is pretty close but the memory speed is only showing 693MHz.

My PCI-E settings in the BIOS are set to auto and it shouldn't need anything changing for it to show the correct speeds from what I'm aware.

Could someone point out a possible cause for the above incorrect figures please - Or maybe the figures on the internet are wrong?

Also the box I got...it looks like the box was for a 512mb, but stickers have been put on the front and back to say 256mb which makes it seem a bit dodgy although I'm sure it isn't.

I hope you can help.

Regards,
Cam.

thanks a lot; I didn't really know about x by 2, and that it would go up in a game.

I had a small incling that it would go up in game as it says "Current Memory Clock" but I didn't want to presume it just in case it wasn't the case.

Also I've spent hours trying to sort my computer out as it kept restarting before it reached the login screen...and I've only just formatted which is why I didn't install a game to test my very little incling. (And as I'm tired of trying to fix the problem I had, I really couldn't be asked to install a game)

Thanks again for your reply; you're made all my stress go away :)
