Is it normal for the boot screen to flash with a couple of lines, one green when windows starts with the X1800XT 256mb card? Once windows loads all is ok.

Anyone?

yup. its something to do with drivers apparently. ive disabled all of the fancy stuff on xp, the shadows of windows and fading etc, also using old school skin too and i dont get it anymore. but a lot of people with the x18/1900 series gets the same 'glitch' on startup

Yeah thats normal with the 6.4s, if you upgrade to the 6.5 cats it gets rid of it.

I still got it with the 6.5s, also with the 6.4s and 6.5s if I tried to watch a movie or anything it turned off my monitor making me have to reboot!

Which 6.5s are you using, I had problems with the betas, with it BSOD when I watched movies, but the official ones are working fine.

Its been the official 6.4s and 6.5s I've tried. The 6.4s got rid of the corruption at startup but brought in the crashing and the 6.5s did the same. I quickly switched back to the 6.3s... Probably going to have to wait until the 6.6s to update without problems!

Might have to give the Omega drivers a shot, see if they help things. Haven't used them for a while since they caused me problems with Battlefield 2.

BIOS logo or windows start screen?

The BIOS screen will always be dodgy, but the windows one is meant to be fixed, maybe they've not got it write for everyone yet, I have never seen it

Hadn't heard that, seems strange that would fix it

yeah that sorted the bios screen corruption for me to. just updated my mobo drivers. well the damn original mobo bios were out before the x1800 came out. so must have been some issues with it

my bios was fine with the 6.3's, just before you got into windows. i was using the ones from ati's site, dont use omega's anymore.
