I know this isnt official but this has been rumoured & this is a response from a mod to an actual question. I havent seen anything more about this. Anyone have any more info. Am currently looking myself.

I purchased the X1800XT 512mb graphics card, thinking i would buy the crossfire addition at a later stage 3 months later i find that the X1800XT crossfire addition is now longer available. Is this to be true. Also if the X1800XT crossfire addition is available can they both be run on the FATAL1TY motherboard in crossfire mode using cable link?

Response from moderator on Powercolor forums ..
The x1800 can work in crossfire without a master card on Radeon Xpress 3200 chipsets. If you have the master card it needs to be run on a crossfire capable chipset.

Was rumours ages ago, they were on about drivers to support it, which were supposed to be the 6.5's, never happened, then they said the 6.6's, never happened, they are gona say the 6.7's next i bet, all id suggest is someone giving it a try, but i would'nt want to buy another x1800 for it not to work, as you would have to send it back, and you would get charged a re-stocking fee etc... as its a fully working card, id await for a proper ATi response on it, i know the x1800 GTO's don't need mastercards though. :)

i have an x1800 XT adn am wondering how to run crossfire on this. Do i buy a very rare and probably pricey x1800 master card or can i run 2 x1800XT's in crossfire on the 3200 chipset from ATi?

Welcome to the forums. :)

Im afraid no one knows the answer to this, as i said above only way would be to buy another x1800 and try it, if it doesn't work send it back, but be prepared to be charged a re-sticking fee as its a perfectly working card, or if a mates got one, borrow it. :p

If you can find a master card, then id just buy that to be on the safe-side. :)

Hi there

Just done some further testing........

X2 4800 at 2.4GHz (Not overclocked)
Asus A8R-MVP
2 x X1800 XT in Crossfire Mode

Score 7005 in 3D Mark 2006 and 13100 in 3D Mark 2005 so Crossfire is performing well and matching SLi performance. :)

I found this in the 3dmark06 scores thread and wasnt sure...ive tried searching elsewhere on the forums and they seem to come up with conflicting answers

I thought that it was only the X1800XL that could work without a dongle, or the X1600s I dunno. The X1800XT requires it as far as I know though.

ive found the card (relatively) cheaply on the ATi site...only problem is that they dont ship to the U.K. (GRRRR)

i know double posting is wrong etc... but i would like to know if anyone is running an x1800 crossfire rig?

ive cracked off an email to ati to see if the master card is needed for the XT's but i think it is :(. has anyone tried putting two x1800XTs in crossfire on the 3200 chipset?

p.s. sorry about the double post, but it has been a while :P
