X1800XT clock speeds

My new X1800XT is running at below standard clock speeds. Atm in Catalyst control centre it says the core is "Requested:621Mhz" but the "Current VPU Clock" is at 594Mhz

The Memory clock is at 693Mhz but the requested speed is 747Mhz.

I unlocked the overclocking facility but when I return it to 650 core and 750 memory and click apply it just returns to the reduced clock speeds

It runs lower 'current' clocks (2D mode) until a full screen game runs, then it switches to the higher 'requested' clocks (3D mode). When you overclock, you overclock the 3D clocks only btw.

Just got my Connect X1800XT - didnt realise how much they weighed ! Think i need to get a Accelero X2.
