X1800XT CROSSFIRE

Upgrading to a single 9600GT/8800GT would easily be enough at that resolution. It would reduce power consumption, noise and save on internal PC space too.

I'd upgrade for definite, you might be able to sell the 2x 1800XT's for £100 in total, make your money back and have more raw power to play with (no reliance on Crossfire).

The thing is, it runs all the games I have including crysis fine and I can have eye candy too, the only game I am getting any time soon aswell is age of conan which looks awesome, but I have heard that its quite demanding!

That's fair enough if it's running games fine already then. Not much reason to upgrade.

But tbh, I'd sell up now, get some decent money for the cards, buy a 9600GT or 3850 replacement, which will hold it's value for longer.

I just find the heat and noise of two of those cards together hard to justify; but like you said, if it's playing games fine, why bother.

Plus, I don't know how 8/9 series cards compare to Crossfire 1800XT's, but they absolutely walk-over/demolish/crush and annihilate single 1800XT's in benchmarks and games.

ahaha i thought someone would say that, I know they arent amazing on their own, I had a few problems setting it up and was using one card for a week or so think "this isnt right" then i enabled crossfire loool what a n00b. Anyhow, heat and noise is a major issue, still I manage to keep my 3800 X2 @ 2.6ghz mabye I should look at watercooling :D
