Hi All

Wasn't sure what forum to put this in as it's a combo of g.card, cpu and mobo.

2.8Ghz 32bit Prescott
2 x 512 3200 corsair value
Sapphire x1800xt 512mb

I recently bought a x1800xt from here but reckon I'm getting no-where near the maxiumum performance from it due to underestimating how useless my cpu is!

I 3dmark05 around 6800 which after looking around here seems low. o/cing the cpu to around 3.08 gave me an extra 200/300 marks but I can't get over 7k. O/cing the gpu had no effect on the score. Also the CS:Source and Lost Coast stress tests don't give me a great deal of improvement over my 6600GT (around 88 & 60 fps with everything on), again leading me to believe its the cpu.

Assuming it is the CPU limiting me, I'm after advice on the minimum mobo/cpu combo I'll need to get the most from my card (or at least a lot more then I'm getting)

I'm also open to suggestions if you think the cpu isn's as much of a problem as I obviously do.

Cheers

There is no maximum really, Just want to make sure my CPU doesn't continue to be the bottleneck for that card. Not too worried about future proofing, I'll probably build a complete new system when directx 10 arrives anyway.

You will be able to overclock the crap out of the 3800+ on the DFI mobo and this will give you a significant boost in performance and a better 3D mark score.
