X1800XT problem

Hye all

I have an X1800XT and a Dell 2001FP.

Anyway, I have been having a problem as of late. If the monitor goes into standby due to inactivity I simply cannot get the image to come back!

As i move the mouse the monitor powers up but im either greeted with a blank screen or a little message saying "DVI mode cannot be displayed"

Anyone ever come across this or have any idea how to fix it? It seems to have gotten worse every time ive upgraded my cat version, till from 6.8 onwards it never comes back (it used to take me turning the monitor on and off a few times for it to come back now it never comes back)

Do you have any other device plugged into the Graphics (tv-out, second monitor)

no nothing at all. I used to have my TV plugged in but its just my monitor via DVI now

Usually a resolution problem, thats why i asked. Did the problem start after u removed the tv out.

not really no, its always been there. Its only recently though that i cant get it back at all and my monitor displays the out of range error message.

Its so odd, i cant find any reference to it. Either way the system only has 1 device officially attached (and its been formatted since the tv was on anyway) which is at 1600x1200 60Hz on DVI, it works flawlessly until the monitor goes into standby...

Could be something with EDID and power managment? Can you update EDID on your monitor?

it fully suppports DDC as far as im aware.. whether it can be updated... i havent got a clue!
