X1800XT Temps?

I just ordered the above card from OcUk (you know, the one at the top for £235), and i wanted a heads up on the temperatures i can expect. I'm contemplating buying the Zalman GFX Flower Cooler, but i wanted to check before i fork out the extra £40, if the stock cooler is any good?

I have good case circulation with a massive Zalman flower CPU cooler that actually cools half my PC xD, two 80mm's at the back, and soon to be a 120mm at the front.

Thanks in advance chaps...

Welcome to the forums. :)

My x1800 XT 512mb idles about 55, and underload only goes to about 69, ive got the retail HS on my A64 3500+, and my new case has 2x 80mm fans, one at the top, and one at the rear, also got an air duct in the side window.

Its just the same temps as it was in my previous case, all i had on that was an 80mm fan on the side window, and i had one of those zalman flower fans at the rear as an exhaust, and also my old case was probably hotter inside as i had a big blue neon light at the bottom of the window that probably flung out some heat as well. :)

Id say it will be fine too in your case by the sounds of it, probably run cooler than mine, anywhere around those sorts of temps is prefectly fine, even middle 70's underload is prefectly fine. :D

Thanks dude, much apreciated, i also have a side fan sucking in air, its 60mm and is about as useful as an underwater hairdryer or solar powered torch xD.

I am going to see how it runs with the stock cooler, and if it is too high for my liking i will purchase the zalman, as i heard it performs well.

I am slightly regretting not getting the 512mb version. Is there any difference or should i be regretting it?

Regards,

PA.

do not worry about the temps ATI state they are good for 105 deg C

we all worry to much about the temps , dont forget they have to be able to withstand the soldering process during the manufacturing of the card

only regret getting the 256mb version if you use 1600 and above. your card will generally be slower than the 512mb by only by a tiny number of fps in resolutions lower than 1600.
Temps wise in my shuttle go from 55 idle to 75 load.

Spose, i can't really explain it, i just get nervous and can't stand high temps in my PC. Everyone tells me i should chill (scuse the pun) but i can't :/

Maybe i have a temperadisorder?

The card comes tomorrow, wish me luck on fitting it. I got a mate to build my PC for me and the only thing i have done is fit a new CPU fan :/

Is it easy?

Yeh thanks very much :)

I know to un-install old drivers, unscrew the screws at the back ( :p ), take my old card out of it's slot, Put the new card in, screw the screws, install new drivers off Installation CD, play.

Correct?

Pretty much correct yes :) . Remember to connect the pci-e power plug then ;)

Not much difference at all, at resolutions like 1024x768 yours will be quicker than the 512mb, but at 1280x1024 your probably only about 5 frames slower if that, which is nothing, but the higher the resolutions the higher the frame gap, but still its nothing as the 256mb XT will fling everything about maxed out anyway at high resolutions, so even if you are about 5 frames slower its not going to make a difference as your frame-rate will still be perfectly fine, and smooth, i mean if the 512mb getting about 70 then your going to get about 65, which is still perfectly playable frame-rates. :)

Overclocking My Leadtek 6800TDH

Hi everyone, I recently got a Leadtek 6800TDH. I managed to unlock all pipelines and the vertex shader through Riva Tuner. I am running stock speeds @ the moment 325/700. I have a problem overclocking my card. It seems that I cant exceed 370 on my gpu core and around 800 on my rams. Riva tuner its telling me that its not accepted or something like that :) . If I lock again the vertex shader, will I be able to get better overclocking on the core and rams ? And what type of clocks should I accept from my card ? I did a test on 3D Mark 06 with all the above unlocked and managed to get around 980. At the moment my cpu is P4 2.8 oc'ed to 3.2. I am using also 1GB of Wintec AMPX rams.

Hey all, the temps on my x1800xt are normal and so is the noise :(

What air cooling have you guys chosen for the x1800xt?

I'm thinking of ...
Artic Cooling Accelero X2 Cooler - £24
Zalman VF900-CU - £25

i had a artic cooler for my 6800 and the build quality was awful so i got a zalman vf700. which would you recommend?

thanks

Only get the Zalman if case cooling is enough to provide a constant stream of outside air onto the whole of the graphics card (mosfet/memory/cooler) As long as you have push/pull case fans, and not "silent/no airflow" types.

My X1800XT idles at 60ºc and stops at 80ºc under load, that's a 20ºc increase on both compared to my last graphics card, but it's nothing to worry about at all. My case has a side intake and two rear exhausts, so I have plenty of airflow.

I am considering buying a Zalman VF900-CU for mine, but I was only going to do that if the stock cooler was too loud. Since the cooler is actually much quieter than people tried to have me believe before buying it, I might not bother.
