Hey folks, I just got one of those Connect 3d ones on offer from OcUK. Previously I had an X800XL, and so going by what people on these here forums have been saying I should be expecting a big upgrade. But I ran 3d mark 03 and I only got 11347, hell I got 11135 with my old card!! In 3d mark 05 I get 8225, which is better.

Also how do I overclock this card?? I have been in the catalyst control centre (using the latest on - just downloaded it today) and gone to ATI overdrive but it doesn't seem to work. No matter what value I select on the "requested" slider the "current VPU clcok" always stays at 594Mhz, same with the memory which only stays at 693Mhz.

Aren't these clocks a bit low since on the ocuk website it says that they should be at 625Mhz and 750Mhz respectively at stock. I have also tried using ATI tray tools, and cant figure that out either!! I right click the tray icon, go to hardware, then overclocking settings and when I move the sliders in there they immediately go back to 594 and 693 mhz - wtf??!

When I go to hardware, the auto overclocking, I click the box to enable 2d/3d overclocking and click OK, it says I have to choose profiles, but the dropdown menus for the profiles are blank!!

Can somebody please tell me if A) my card is actually running slow and B) why and C) how do I fix it?

Thanks

Whjat cpu are you running? For reference see the benchies in my sig.

As for clocking, one thing i know is its a lot more complicated than nvidia! AFIK the requested speed wont change until you enter a 3d app.

11k is well low in 03, i get about 15.5k with mine on a 3500+ all stock, those clocks are correct as thats the 2D speeds, the requested speeds are what it goes to when you start gaming (the 3D speeds). :)

Your 05 score seems right as i get about 8.5k in that, did you have AA/AF off etc... although judging by the 05 score you must have, unless you changed the options or something in the drivers before you ran 05.

I have an Opteron 146 @ 2.7Ghz. I just ran the default settings for both 3d marks. And now I understand, the clocks weren't changing because I wasn't gaming, but when I load up a game it will automatically slide up to those speeds? Thats different from how I overclocked the X800XL using Ati Tool..... ;)

I will run 3d 03 again, maybe i was downloading something or noton was being gay or something....

cheers
