Hi

I have the following

AMD 939 3800+ X2
1GB RAM
ASrock SATA-2 939
X1800XT

what difference would a X1950XT make?

difference between them would be a lot, but 200+ pounds in the wrong direction, get a 8800 card if your looking to buy a new card right now.

(and no im not a nvidia fan, but there the best at the moment, x1950 range are a rip off for what they perform like for there price

An X1950XT would make a difference, but nowhere near enough to justify the cost.

The X1800XT is still a fine piece of equipment, keep it unless you intend to go G80/R600.

A reasonable difference in shader intensive games. You'd get about £75 for your X1800XT and you could grab an X1950XT for £135 new. However, I can't say it's worth a £60 upgrade.

i would upgrade the ram first you wont be able to max out games with 1gb of ram 2gb is perfect at the moment

Either get an 8 series, or keep the x1800 till R600 arrives and pick a card up then, (either an 8 series, or an R600 variant). :)
