Quick question. Got a C2D system with X1800XT and i play games at 1280x1024 (max res of my TFT). Thinking of getting a 20-22" monitor, is it worth selling my X1800XT for £100 and getting a X1950Pro 256Mb or 512Mb?

Hi there

Upgrading from an X1800 XT to a X1950 Pro will yield no noticable performance gains at all. Waste of money.

Going to an X1950 XT would see some gain, but nothing earth shattering.

Best option is either an 8800 or start saving now for the R600 which is due Feb/March. :)

Thanks for the quick replies, think i will get a better cooler for my X1800XT and try and overclock it then.

From what i have read, Zalman a bit better but bang for buck the Accelero is better, right?
The Accelero X2 is much better value for money, it's only about £15 I think.

The VF900 is more expensive, but if you plan to OC to the limit then it will do much better than the Accelero.

Both are silent.

The Accelero X2 works well. I'm not 100% sure what this BTX approved design is (blowing air down on the mobo) but I can confirm it does work well, in an open case at least. What happens once you put the case sides on I don't know.

One important thing top note about the Accelero X2 is its HEIGHT! It sticks out above the card by two inches or so, as long as u have a big case you will be fine but if you are using a HTPC chassis you wont be able to fit the sides back on (yes this just happened to me  )
