Hi,
i have my gfx connected to a HDTV lcd monitor via vga with 1:1 pixel mapping. since the card has HDTV output via component (RGB) cable i would also like to connect the card via its s-video (RGB outlet) outlet to my tv's component input, hoping this will give me a better image quality when im watching dvds.
So what id like to achieve is:
1. Normal pc screen showing on the PC extension on my tv
2. when im playing a dvd or any movie file it will play on my "2nd display" connected to the same tv but via RGB.

Ive plugged all the wires in and made settings so that movie files will play on 2nd display in theatre mode. However nothing shows up on av3 (the RGB extension).

Does anyone know how i could achieve this?

Thanks.

You have it connected via VGA, yes?

VGA is RGB.

Strictly speaking component (YCbCr) isn't RGB by the way. But it's close. Both the component and VGA are analogue signals from the same source, doubt you'd see much difference.

What resolution (480p 720p 1080i) and frequency (PAL NTSC) is the component TV input? Is it set correctly?

S-video isn't RGB it's Y-C (i.e. picture and colour information seperate). Going over to component is probably not going to help as you get overscan/underscan issues.

I would suggest looking to force a 50hz refresh rate via vga or using a DVI connection - my Hitachi 32LD7200 gives a much better picture over DVI.

I don't think he talking about the s-video signal, its the DIN plug he's referring to and that does output component. He's already using VGA and no mention of a digital input.

hi guys, couldnt be asked to sort this out in the end, ive just linked a dvd player to my lcd via component and just going to watch it off that.
Thanks for all your replies.
