X1900 Crossfire Edition or X1900 first?

I'm looking to ugprade my PC, but would it be better future proofing to buy the host X1900 Crossfire card rather than the slave?
 
Well you can get a X1900XT Host for the same as a X1900XT-X slave. Reading into it, the XT-X isn't really worth it considering the XT can be bumped up.
