Hey i've got the DFI r600 Motherboard. (e.g. Crossfire capable C2D board)
I've also got a 512mb x1900 Master Card with no CF cable.

I'm considering a cost effective upgrade to boost my FPS, i just got a 24" 1920x1200 screen. I need some help with a few questions. If anyone can help answer them i'd be really interested in what you have to say.

Can you do Crossfire on the x1900 series without the cable? e.g. software through the PCI-E bus like on lesser cards?

Is anyone running crossfire at the moment with x1900's? whats the performance like?

Can I crossfire 2 master cards? Can i crossfire my x1900 with a x1950? Can i mix memory sizes?

Finally:
Should i spend around £60 for a second hand x1900 or sell mine for about £50 and spend (total) £100ish on a more modern secondhand card?

All i play currently is BF2 but i'd like to have a decent rig to play COD4 on.

Edit: P.S. the x1900 MC is currently underwater!

No, you still need a crossfire dongle...only the x1950 series could use a crossfire bridge.

Also, x1900 crossfire still performs quite well, but you'd be much better off selling your card and getting a new one.

There are quite a few budget cards out there at the moment that perform VERY well. For example the 3850pro 512mb plays CoD4 at 1280x1024 max details and tons of AA+AF flawlessly....and OcUK have it for 111 quid + shipping.

...and there's the 8800GT 512mb, a much faster card but also more expensive (cheapest on is 164 quid on ocuk I believe)

If you have a 24'' screen coming then I highly suggest getting the 8800GTX....next best bet is the 8800GTS 512mb, but I wouldn't go for anything less than that for running that high of a resolution
