im upgrading my bro's machine, its only a single core opteron but its got an x1900xt in it and he said although its not going to be on 24/7 he doesnt mind running folding if he's not doing anything else, so hopefully ill gain a bit anyways :]
im having a bit of a problem though, ive set up a profile with tray tools to load at start up but i cant reach 3d clocks, it runs fine in normal 3d mode though so i couldnt work out what was going on, now im sure i read somewhere i need to up the voltage or something but i cant remember where i read that now, is that all i need to do? as at the moment its only stable up to 620/720, just short of normal 3d speeds :[

a second question, which drivers are better to download? ive put the 6.10's on but i think ive read theres a better older set? i can never remember were i read the stuf though cus i wasnt intending on getting a x1900

which version omegas? i used to use omegas on my 9800pro but ive had gforce since then, havent checked out the omega website for aaaages. i want to put the optimal drivers for folding on if one set exists that is generally considered to be the best, any help on how i can get over my clocking issues would also be appreciated :]

i will just put a cpu client on there if i cant get gpu working upto speed, he mainly uses his pc for music production though so when he's actually using it the cpu and memory are normally maxed out a large percentage of the time, because of that i dont think it would fold much except for when he's stopped all his software. as for restarting etc, he would just turn it on when he's going out or whatever so it doesnt really need to be all automated and all that, with what he does on it though im pretty sure gpu client would return better results, and by that i mean more points for me :P than sticking on a cpu client, also as i said its only a single core opteron, not dual or anything

Well im hoping it will get that many hours, i dont want to not even bother to try, else it will be a x1900 going to waste completely :( if it was a dual core pc i'd be less bothered but its only a single core opty as it is.
Im going to put on the gpu client, he is more than computer literate to be able to turn it on when he's not doing anything else, however if it keeps missing deadlines after a couple of weeks i'll give up and swap it for a cpu client.
Thanks for the voltage info, i knew it was somewhere but im so busy i havent got time to search through posts :]
Thanks for the driver info as well, i had a quick look on omega webby, couldnt see an optimised version of the 6.10 drivers? If they even make a difference to folding anyways. Im going to see how far i can push the x1900 now, im guessing i dont need to change the memory voltage? they are set to 1.4v and 1.8325v respectively at the moment.

X1900 series: 1.4/2.089V

^-- im having trouble changing the memory voltage, if i set it to anything above default, it just resets to 1.839, am i doing something obviously wrong?

cheers thats sorted it :) i get the following maximum stable OC;

core 695mhz
mem 1770mhz

im going to install GPU client now and see how long a WU takes, will the relative slowness of the CPU affect it? ive got it set to 2.4ghz at the moment as i havent had time to test it any higher yet

ok ive left it on all night, cpu is now at 3ghz, i process each frame in roughly 8 minutes 10 seconds, does that sound about right? Is there anything else i can do apart from ramp up the clock speeds to get it to go any faster?

im not sure whether ive selected driver level overclocking or not, i will check when i get home tonight, im not sure what version of ati tray tools im using, do i need to be using a specific version?

anyone got a link to version .949? i have 940 installed so i guess thats the problem? just googled for 949 version and cant seem to find a link to it, not sure if im being thick or what

thanks concorde ive found it now, i could see 945 but i assumed the 1st post would have the most up to date beta in it, found .949 on the 3rd page after i sifted through :)

ok im at a loss, i dont know how to speed up the frames on this computer :( it seems whatever i do has very little effect, i dont know if the rest of the system has an affect, or whether its due to something else but i cant seem to gain anything on ~8mins per frame
the system as it stands now is:
opteron 144 @ 3ghz
1gig ram @ 270mhz
x1900xt 256meg version (if that has any affect?)
- core 1.4volts, @ 690mhz
- mem 2 volts, @ 1750mhz

im using the .949 ATT i got from that thread on guru 3d, speeds set using driver level
ive got the 2 ati system processes disabled, im not sure whether thats needed any more but i left them disabled anyway
i just cant figure out why its going so slow

am i missing something??

help needed :(

the services have been disabled for a few days now and ive reset inbetween, i uninstalled ATT completely when changing to .949, reset and installed new version, the speeds are set on a profile which currently, while i try to get this issue sorted out, im starting up manually.
so initially the computer boots into windows at default 2d timings, then i select my profile with the faster speeds, extra voltage needed etc, and yes the profile definately is kicking in :) then i start up F@H last of all, i dont get why its going slow though, its increased marginally from ~9mins to ~8mins in everything that iv'e done, OCing the CPU, memory and the card itself :(

yes according to task manager its using the whole cpu, its only on a single core opteron, the only thing i can think of (well assuming this card isnt just messed up) is ATT isnt changing the speeds even when it says it is, im intedning to get something else to monitor the gpu core/memory at the same time, can anyone recommend an app that i can use at the same time which wont affect ATT setting the speeds?
Im thinking riva tuner but i dont know if i can run both at the same time, doesnt need to be complex either, just something to monitor them

its a fresh windows install, + logitech mouse drivers, ATT and F@H running and thats it, so i dont think its that, thing is its not guna be on that long each day and i dont want it to keep missing deadlines, which i think it may do if each frame is going to take 8mins :( may just give up and put a cpu client on it but i really dont want to waste the gpu if i can just work out whats holding the stupid thing back
