so whats the main benefit of having lots of pixel shaders? x1900 series of cards don;t seem to be any better than the nvidia counterparts when it comes to speed.

or am i missing something here?

what im getting at here is, is there anything specific that the x1900 series of cards will shine in? or does the added pixel shaders just help the card to catch up with nvidia's 24pipe counterparts?

A) Edit posts instead of posting 20 mins later.

B) Some games are shader intensive, this where ATi catch up.

C) Higher core clocks and possibly more effiecent design allows for more performance (Folding at home GPU thing as an example, apparently even a GX2 can only do 1/4 of the power of a 500/600 XTX.

hmm, mind you i have not put fear combat back onto this pc. must get round to doing so.

oblivion im not too sure about. ran really crappy on my 7600gt but may give it a try.

Even with a single X1900GT, Oblivion ran well.

Throw 72 Pixel Shaders at it, and as I mentioned in another Post, it cuts through Oblivion like hot knife through butter :D

will try oblivion soon, gonna have to find it then install it. will probably play at my desktop rez which is 1152x864. gonna see how it runs.
