X1900 Thread - no nonsense

Yeah wait and see the prices, and wait for some reviews that actually show the x1900 and the x1800 at 1280x1024, i bet the difference is next to nowt, thats why x1800 only lasting 2x months doesn't bother me, as im at 1280x1024 on a TFT too, i can hardly complain if the new x1900 at my res is pulling a couple of frames more. :)

If i had an uber screen with higher resolutions, then yeah id probably be a bit miffed as the higher the res, the bigger the gap would grow. :)

But by the time you add 4XAA and 16xAF the difference will be a lot smaller again. The X1900 can't cope with resolution any better than the X1800 except when it comes to rendering any shaders at the high resolutionns. The added pixel and texel fillrate of high resolution gamming will not be improved by the X1900.

But Super scene AA will be faster on the X1900 with the extra shader power.

Which is better XT or X-TX? Sorry for the Noobish (or Nobish) question but i've always bought Nvidia and i don't know ATI's naming scheme.
Edit: Google was my friend. XT-X is the better one.

XTX is better, but only slightly. It is clocked slightly higher but probably not worth the extra cash.

The nameing scheems a made to be complex and change so you can never quite know what product you are geeting. ATI is especially bad as it has something like 3X the number of SKUs than Nvidia.

righto need some advice! Got the a8n32-sli Mobo, will i benfit more by buying the GTX and sli, or getting the Crossfire x1900, wats diff between xtx and Xfire? Can you just sli to XTX cards? I gonna need summit pokey to run me monitor at good res! :)

just that the ATi are cheaper than the Nvidia counter parts, but the machine was built for Nvidia, so ill stick with that. Good idea to wait to see what Nvidia are going todo in respone to the x1900, if any. :)

They have a response in the 7900, its scheduled for March depending how the x1900 does against the 512mb GTX that is, if it totally kills it then they'll release it sooner, but seen as the x1900 is not a threat as its only slightly better, then they'll hang on till March i rekon. :)
