Heya I am really confused by this one.

Played BF2142 yesterday everything was fine. Come to play it today and it got loads of artifacts on screen within a minute or two and quickly exited. Looked at temps and they were 80C, normally only get 70C max with my Accelero X2 and thats when my room is hot. Everything else is fine. CPU at 38C and mobo at 44C (this board runs hot anyway and so gives false mobo temps).

Took the card out and no dust on it or anything. Put it back in same problem. Only difference between today and yesterday is that I have the AMD (ATI) 7.1 drivers. I also have newest version of Traytools with standard speeds.

I really cant see why its running so hot! Fan is reaching the normal 2000rpm so thats working fine. Seems the GPU temp increases very quickly, but environment temp doesnt differ from normal.

But when idling is sitting at 55C which is normal in my case for 2D speeds.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

x1900XTX can run up 90C and more load without problems so 80C load itself is not cause for alarm.. Try rolling back to the previous driver set or reinstalling your current drivers.. If you overclocked it at all try reducing your overclock or return it to stock..

Try some AS5 on it and be sure its seated correctly

these temps are perfectly normal for an XTX. The stock cooler at deafult fan speeds gets a lot hotter than 80! Mine was full loading about 90+ when I first got it and about 85 with an accelero fitted...also the accelero was a lot cooler!

Its also very had not to install the Accelero cooler incorrectly and the thermal paste supplied with the Accelero is decent stuff...so it doesnt really matter if AS5 was used.

You dont have a temperature issue....so return to your original drivers and see how it goes.

My XTX never goes of 60*C, this is with the stock cooler?

I have set a custom fan speed map though. But not that much of a change!?

not sure. I have the same cooler now on my X1800xt. running at 700core and 800memory it idles at around 52c and goes up to about 73 on load.

Before on stock 621core and 747mem it would idle at 55 and go up to 74!

Rolled back to 6.12 drivers and everything was fine didnt come back on here and post so. I dont normally have an issue with heat, as my card normally idles at 45/43. In games normally runs 64/58. So was weird why drivers caused it to goto 80+ temps, as games would just artifact and then crash. Wasnt just BF2142 either. So gona leave it alone.

However cant be bothered to overclock card since even on my 40" lcd with 1080 resolution playing games bf2142 I never go below 30fps so no point in overclocking. Thats with everything on full as well. Not really playing any other game right now tbh. On my 20.1" lcd get 60-80fps which is fine for me.
