I have a simple requirement to be able to control Fan speed and 2D /3D clocks
I have got by with Omega drivers and ATI tool but resently realised the temp monitoring was causing Keyboard control problems in games ( Some Games, like sticking key effect with me running into walls etc..). I now find with 6.6 Cats ATItool crashes Media player, So I need a working alternative ?

ATI Tray Tools seem to do the fan but nothing else !

I do not particularly Like the CCC but am forced to run it now to have in Game HotKey Gamma control, Seems crazy to me that ATI does not incorporate 2D Clocks and Fan Overide

Any Ideas ?

cats 6.5 and ati tool beta, that will control clock speeds and fan speeds.

Did You fully read my post lay-z-boy ?

6.4's/5's also had gaming problems !

Took me a while to twig that ATItool was causing problems, but I had exactly the same problem. Since getting an x1900xt Ive caved in and just installed cat6.6 +CCC. Ive not tried overclocking either.

I heard there is a modified bios, on xxtremesystems.org that controls 2d/3d volts and then allows overclocking utilities to do their job.

Also u can run the xtx or the blizzard bios, to give a boost without resorting to findling about disabling services ect.

Yeah i did, you mentioned 6.6 and nothing else.

ati tool does clock speeds and fan voltage, what more do you want?

Get a nvidia if its so much of a problem for you.

Still havent read the orginal post lazy, have u or even mine for that matter? :) U want a cold drink to help u dig that hole for yourself? ;)

Perhaps nvidia should take a note out of ATI's book since ATI is currently a lot more reliable than the 7900 series, and to the best of my knowledge they dont have 2d/3d speed changes.

Both have 2D/3D changes. Its just ATI have done something to there drivers so certain in games videos/video player change the clock speed. Ofcourse if your a nub and have it at 3D 24/7 = crash.

Read my X1900Xt clocking thread and it may all be solved...

Must be the power circuitry components then.

Id love to read it again but I dont have a link handy.

Yes, The Gameing problems were a nightmare to find the cause !! but once You know it's ATI tool associated, Google for it and You will find many people with the same Problems
I have not put a finger on the the media player issues which seems to be worse with the later driver releases but it's definatly a conflict with ATI Tool

The Card is a Proper X1900XTX anyway and in all other ways a good Card, Just runs so damm hot without the fan override 85 c as opposed to 65c with fan control.
Had a smile to myself when I had all but completed the new HL2 addon and thought..Why is this game feeling a bit less than sprightly...was running 1600x1200 at max settings,I had left my 3D clocks @ 350/400 :D
Has anyone tried Riva tuner with these cards ?

Hey Concorde, You saying I can have fan control, In Game Gamma adjust, 2/3d clock speed adjustments by reading Your Guide ?

I would say 2D/3D clocks and a bit of voltage control but it would be crazy to have it linked to certain games !!.....I would say that would be some sort of nvidia based rumour

No, I only concentrate on clocking, however gamma etc can be saved to any profile you like.

It really isnt rocket science, I mean I downloaded it, looked around and started testing. A 12 year old can do it people ;) Im 16 yea lol

Arr ha ! a benchmark basher eh!....Mr Conc, Gamma needs a little more tweakability than a couple of profiles when You are playing different maps on different servers etc..
Believe Me I know how to make a GFX Card Bleed ! In this Case I would like to make it run cooler

You Lost me, What do I need to download ??

If You mean RT , I was useing it on a Nvidia Card I had been editing Bios's on and i did not get on with it very well !

Well then you would need profiles for each program, ATi Tray Tools might do it, but i've never had to have different settings on each map I play, thats beyond being too addictied  TBH m8 thats really sad  I've never thought to myself, ah this map is far too dark, or ahh this map is far too light  However I do use two CRTs...

I have one setting for 2D (desktop) and a slighly lighter one for 3D (gaming).

Crt's are better than my LCD for details in dark corners....Believe me I'm not Sad, ;) I don't run Script's etc , Just don't like being at a dissadvantage

Anyhow This is not getting my Card fixed..

Frankily mate what your asking is impossible, unless you have a script which changes as it detects each map, then you have to fiddle about setting it.

I havent gamed on a TFT, so I can really say if there is a bigger problem. But quoting somone "He wants perfection - and he isnt going to get it"

Find a gamma/brightness/contrast setting and stick to it, making you life so much easier, it isnt like your trying to win a million quid, and a few people agree that your trying to do it on every map is very very sad. You want decent colors/shadows? Get a decent CRT.

Job done.

CR.

Aha.....

You appear to have found one of the (many) problems with TFT screens... ;)

Ahha, thats been happening to me occasionly in CS... So ATI Tool might be the cause of my problems! Shame theres no other program that can control my 2D/3D clocks:(

Hold on Pal !! I am Talking about 2 hot keys ALT+F1 AND ALT+F2 one ups the Gamma and the other takes it down, I have used this for years long before Ati tool...I rarely ever need it playing proper full retail game as brightness and gamma are correctly set by the programmers through the levels....except DOOM 3
On-line especially custom maps frequently have the gamma all over the place, Has it not occured to You why most GFX card Tools have gamma hotkey support it ain't just for me...I don't set the Poxy thing up to a colour chart at map changes, maybe spend 500ms thats 1/2 a sec.....If You played more Multiplayer You would Know lot's of dodgy characters camp in dark corners because they know people can not see them

You Got it !!

If You turn off temp monitoring it should go away, If You do not have this other problem with Media Player You should be good to go ;)

also the Omega versions of the Cats seem less troublesome. I await their 6.6's
