I was wondering if it's possible to connect the fan on my Zalman VF900-Cu fan straight to my X1900XT and power it from there? The lead that powers the fan in the stock cooler of the X1900 has a slightly different head with smaller pins to the normal three pin connector powering the Zalman VF-900, and plugs directly into a socket on the card PCB. However it looks like it is essentially the same lead, with three leads black, red and white.
If I was to take the plug of the stock cooler, solder it to the fan lead on the VF-900 and then connect it to the PCB socket, will it still work correctly, or will the fan run into issues?
I'm hoping by doing I can remove some cables while controlling the fan speed from ATI Tool, as well as freeing up the Fan mate to use on another fan.
But will it work? any experiences doing this?
Cheers
Steve
