Recently had a go at overclocking my X1900XT PCI-E as I've had it for a while and wanted to see how far it could be pushed on stock cooling. The max I could get it to was about 695 on the core with ATI Tool, couldn't get the memory to go past 750 without artifacts. Pathetic, considering the OC's I've seen other people manage, but I put it down to the card being oldish. Since then have played Crysis for multiple hours without any hitches, until yesterday, when loading my OC clocks caused a system hang.
I had to reduce the core clock to 685, then 675, and now just loading regular 3D clocks (even though ATI Tool is forcing 621/747 for some reason) is causing a hang in Bioshock. I've re-enabled the ATI Hot Poller Key and it seems to be O.K., but I just wanted to know if I've screwed the card beyond OC'ing capability. For some reason Bioshock just doesn't seem to look as good as it did before I tried overclocking, but that might be thanks to playing Crysis
.
Thanks in advance!
