I built my new system yesterday.

MB = Sapphire PC-A9RD580Adv
RAM = 2 GB OCZ Platimun 3200
PSU = Enermax 620w
CPU = AMD 4000+
Gfx card 1 = Powercolor Crossfire x1900xt
Gfx card 2 = Sapphire x1900xt
HDD = WDC 120GB

I have enabled crossfire after installing the drivers from the crossfire card and tried to run the various 3Dmark tests 01, 05 and 06 and when running I get a black screen for a few seconds and then the picture for a few more and then a black screen etc...

I also play Planetside and when I logged in tonight to test it I am also getting it where the screen will go black and then the picture will come back which as you can guess is totally unplayable.

Any ideas, suggestions...HELP!!!

The crossfire card is definately in the bottom slot. The cable has a special end on it that can only go into the double pinned socket on the crossfire card and the other 2 cables can only go 1 in the standard card and other connect to the monitor cable. I have tried the cable to go into the card in both of the DVI ports on the back of the standard card with no success.

I have just installed 6.4 drivers and get when booting up just before I get to the desktop a screen full of red, green and yellow pixels on a white background.

I have also just now tried in dxdiag to run the test directdraw and test direct3d buttons. It gets so far on the directdraw until you get to the full screen bouncing then you have the black background with the white square bouncing surrounded by red, green and yellow pixels and the picture coming and going as per the 3Dmark tests. I get the same with the direct3d test also.

I have the drivers for 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3 is it worth me taking off the 6.4 and trying them in turn?

Any ideas?

Update: I just plugged my DVI cable from my monitor direct into my crossfire card and I get no problems whatsoever with graphics. So is it the crossfire cable ? (I have also tried to plug the monitor direct into my sapphire card and get no signal on either port, could it be a faulty gfx card instead?)

I will try and give that a go tonight along with the previous drivers. I did have a look at taking the card out last night though its rather tricky to get it out is there a trick with the clips on the PCI-E slots as I have never taken one out before? :confused:

Update

I have tried each card individually and it works perfectly on either of the DVI ports on the back of the Sapphire card and on the DVI port on the crossfire card. I only get this problem when running my monitor through the crossfire cable into the back of the card.

So assume its either a problem with the cable or a problem with the port on the back of the card.

Thoughts?

I have also opened a ticket with ATI and am considering ringing Overclockers tomorrow to see what they think.
