For £360 you can get a x1900xt, or a 7800gtx256... now the ati card is meant to just about beat the 7800gtx512 which costs £500+... isnt that a no-brainer???

Where is the 7900 gonna fit in price wise?? You would expect it to be better than the x1900's, simply because the ati only just beats the 7800gtx512... but on value for money, price/performance issue, surely the ati wins hands down??

Looking at current nvidia pricing strategy.. surely the 7900 cant be nearer £600+

So for £350-£400 you can get an ati that beats the £500+ nvidia...

surely nvidia will/can price higher because the G71 will be the fastest card on the market - you pay more for the best.

what i mean, is that the G71 will probably the fastest card on the market (forget about bang for buck) - thus they can charge more.

How much is the recommended retail price of a 7800gtx 512mb without the rip off supply and demand pricing on them????

I don't think you can blame Nvidia for most of the high price of the 7800gtx 512mb cards..

I have seen some places charging as high as £595 excluding VAT for one these cards. While the next place is charging under £400 for one..

That's because people are willing to pay £500+ for 512MB GTX, if ATI charged £500+ for X1900 people would just laugh in disbelief and buy X1800 instead.

the point was dbappa said you pay more for the best.at the moment that aint true
and lets be honest only nv/ati fan boys would pay more for the second best card'most people would get the cheaper fastest card weather that was ati or nv

The RRP is $50 more, so that makes it about £27.
Prices should be between £400-450 Inc vat but as Nvidia carefully limited the quantity and built the hype people are willing to pay well over the odds for the card. It makes Nvidia happy, it makes the manfactures very happy, and the retailers even happier! Any buyer who isn't happy cn buy an ATI card for better nag for buck. But Nvidia is not worried about that- have you see their share values, they are shooting well ahead of ATI over the last 6 months.

Why do people buy Mercedes and BMWs when you can get better/faster cars cheaper?

Are BMW owners fanboys?

After owning a xt1900xt-x for the last week with it's crap drivers(crashing in half-life2,CCC makes windows take twice as long to load)
and it's very noisely fan with much higher temps then the 7800gtx 512mb.I can see now why people want the 7800gtx 512mb card..

I buy purely on price, I find it stupid people would be a nvidia over a ati if the performance is worse and the price is more - who cares whats in your pc as long as its the best you can get for the cheapest.
If cyrix build an amazing CPU tomorrow for a quality price i'd go out and buy it.

Funny, I have not had one problem, not one crash and it's not at all noisy.

Are you sure your problems are not bad ventalation in your Case making it over heat or something like that???
