hi all, my spec in my sig,
i am considering this x1900xt card since its going for £300inc vat at the moment which is not too bad.
thing is i don't have a psu that has the pcie power connector on it, my enermax 550w is an old psu with 24a on 12v rail and no pci-e power connector. will this card not work in my system?

It will work in your system if you get a molex to PCI-E adapter (you normally get 1 with the graphics card or you can buy 1 for couple of quid)

excellent, also how is ati's driver support?

last ati card i had was a 9250 which was not too bad. does ati drivers cause any problems? also how do they support other operating systems like windows server 2003, or do they even have windows x64 drivers?

this x1900xt costs 100 quid more than a 7900gt.

is that 100 quid getting me a lot of price/performance bargain or is it best to go for the 7900gt?

the 7900GT only carries 256MB, the X1900XT comes with 512MB which is much more needed for the latest games (if that's your thing). It's also generally faster anyway.

Yeah the x1900 is definately worth the extra over the 7900 GT, as said its got 512mb on it, and it also has 48x shader units, the 7900 GT is about the same as a 256mb 7800 GTX. :)

hehe, ok just placed an order for x1900xt card from powercolor. should be with me next friday the 21st april. price was £300 inc vat and free delivery so its an average price i guess.

hope its a step up from my current 6800nu. :D

what can i expect from this card???

I've heard people say they don't even get to 70 degrees under heavy load. The X1900XT will be atleast three times better than your 6800. Probably three times bigger too!

WHAAAA 3 times more powerful than even my fully unlocked and clocked 6800? are you sure on that? i was more on the lines expecting up to about 2x the speed boost but 3 seems kind of hard to take in.

70c load? thats not bad at all, my 6800nu did that on its stock cooler.

wondering if i should remove the stock cooler on the x1900xt when it arrives and reapply thermal paste to it. if its anything like my mobo northbridge was they go really tight on the white goop. :D

ohh getting excited about this card now, can;t wait for it to arrive next friday. will post some pics up as soon as it arrives.

was wondering whats the best air cooler available for this card? i want to prolong my investment by protecting this card from heat. thats why i bought a nv5 silencer for my 6800nu and temps don;t go over 55c.
