X1900XT Power?

Upgrading to HISX1900XT 256MB this weekend, what power supply should I be looking at?

Running X2 939 4800+
HIS1900XT 256
2GB RAM
2x Seagate Hard Drives

Would 460W be enough? Or should I be looking at something a bit bulkier?

I am using an Akasa 460w with 29a combined on the 12v rails. Runs perfectly at XT-X speeds with the rig in my sig.

yeah was just about to email you about it. Arrived this morning

it isn't in a PC yet, just sitting here next to me on my desk. Can't wait to give it a go.

On the power supply note. Is it going to be enough for 2 HDs and a 4800+?

worked fine on a hiper 480w type r for me.

my other pc similar to my sig is running with a 450w PSU fine, 2 hdd's, 1900xt etc, 450 is plenty aslong as its from a decent company.

160W for a X1900XTX
150W for a X2
30W per HD
30W mobo
30W mem
Thats 60 for everything else, and those are worst case

So I doubt ull be using more than about 350-400W.

get some seagate drives like me mate, only 16w power consumption peak.

I did say worst case, and IIRC a 74Gb Raptor uses around 28W on startup.

Exact same PSU I have, it's perfectly fine.

just bought a x1900xt from ocuk and was worried my hiper hpu-3s425 425w,single 12v 25a rail none pci-e (required adaptor lead) wouldn't work but just done first 10 mins of ghost recon adv.war and no problems..btw my 6800 gt used too struggle with this,but now maxed out settings on my 19"tft...early days yet but looking very good

which hiper psu did you get? the one i seen on their website is a dual 12v rail 425w?

hey i'm buying a X1800 XT 256MB. will this run with 350W power supply?? only got one have HD, 1 cpu, 3 sticks of ddr2 ram and 1 dvdrw drive so not much else will be consuming power.

Is that the best card for £135 budget can stretch to £150 but extra money gotta be worth it.

looks like you will need a new psu to be on the safe side. 350w is a bit on the low side for a x1800xt machine.

thanks, any recommendations for a budget realiable psu under warranty???
also any idea about the kind peformance a 350W would cripple the performance of a game????

350w is likley to blow up.

for a budget psu you could get a hiper type r 480w non modular unit for around 40 quid. it was the psu i was using with my x1900xt and it was perfectly fine, i only switched it to the 580w hiper i have now since i got it for free.
