X1900XT X-Fire performance issues with Crysis

Ok, spec one has 2 X1900XTs X-Fired, cat 7.10 with Hotfix, 2gig Ram, Opty 165 @2.6ghz, 1440x900 rez.

Spec 2 has 1 HD2900XT at stock, 2gig Ram, cat 7.10 with hotfix, E4300 @ 2.7ghz.

Spec 2 seems to get nearly double the FPS of spec one :(.

Both systems running Win XP.

Is crossfire not working in Crysis?? I've put cat AI on standard and advanced and still no joy in performance increase.

Any suggestions, advice, or knowledge on the matter would be appreciated.

Update: It seems if I disable Crossfire I get better performance that with it enabled. So much for the Hotfix ATi brought out.

Crysis does support Crossfire, the ATi hotfix drivers supposedly boost Crossfire performance in it, obviously not in this case though.

Sorry Loadsa, I have tried special config files etc..etc.. It works but less performance than a single card.....actually not strictly true You get very high and very low FPS
I'll simplify it just by saying it does not work

Hi guys - I have found this - someone else's post by the way.

"After some research and tinkering, I finally got crossfire to work! No B.S! BUT..... the graphics are glitchy and I could only get this to work in DX9. Some objects such as trees and clouds flicker. However the demo is still playable and those of you with a crossfire setup can finally get an idea of how your system might run!

This is how I did it.......

Go to the Bin32 folder. Rename Crysis.exe to AFR-FRIENDLYD3D.EXE. Now make a new shortcut for this file on your desktop. If you're running XP I'd imagine you'll be good to go from here. If you're running Vista, right click on the shortcut, go to properties, and add -DX9 at the end of the target line.

With one 2600XT I could only run medium @ 1440x900 and get an avg of around 20 to 25 fps. Now with CF I can run high (except shaders.... reason is coming......) at the same resolution and get an average of around 30 to 35 fps.

Now, the reason why I had to leave shaders on medium was because on high it looks like the sun is in your eyes at all times and you can't really see anything LOL.

Anyways, I hope this works for everyone else who has been left in the dark and wondering about how their crossfire setup might perform in Crysis! Especially all of you guys with a pair of 2900's!!!!!!"

Apparently this works in the retail game as well - let's hope.

Probably a glitch with the Crossfire driver.

And he's running XP, not Vista.

And no - CPUs running at those speeds will have litle impact on the actual performance of the game.

Quoted "Seems Crysis is the Problem not supporting 2 GPU's same for SLI"

Quoted on my post link "If you're running XP I'd imagine you'll be good to go from here".

Just an idea...

I would go for the source folder.

I'm going to try this once I have my second card in.

Let's hope it works .
