Has anybody with a shuttle purchased one of the new ATI line of graphics cards?

I'm interested in running an XT-X in my shuttle SN25P. I believe that the SN25P and SN26P share the same PSU, and though its rating looks low on paper, I'm happily running an X1800XT in an SN25P, plus I know the SN26P is capable of running two 7800GTXs in SLI.

I just want to make sure this will work before clicking on the buy button :)

X1800XT didn't work in my SN25P >:(

Something's definitely up with that, as they definitely do work. Refer yourself to http://forums.*******.com/ for lots of shuttle related advice :)

EDIT: hmmm strange. Looks like I can't quote that forum here, though I'm not sure why as I'm fairly certain they don't sell anything. If you want a link to a really useful shuttle based forum, drop me a line and I'll give you the address

Well the card fits nicely and the machine boots up but it's definitely audible. Two GTX's are quieter than one x1900xtx by miles. With those you could only hear the air flow but with this you can hear the fan and it is quite annoying!

I can't test the card because there appears to be a problem with the ati drivers? I get a "missing inf" error whenever I run the catalyst installer (windows x64 btw). Gonna hunt for a different version.

I have a xt1900xt-x running in my shuttle sn26p right now..

No problems apart from the fan whine on this xt1900xt-x is driving me mad..It's much louder then any other fan in the shuttle..

chaparral, did you see a difference in performance when you change from the SLI GTX's to a X1900 XT-X?

Got any pics when the GTX's were in?

daddyorchips, did you buy a X1900 card for your shuttle then?

I can now run fear at maximum settings! Couldn't do that before with the GTX's. The card can be very loud but the cooler runs in "real time", for example if you press pause or go to game options or something then the fan immediately slows down.

The card might be loud but I think that the cooling is perfect for shuttles. With my two old GTX's, air was just pulled into the fans and blown towards the front of the pc, into the path of the CPU cooler. When my system was running hot there was masses of hot air emanating from the cpu cooler vent. Now with the xtx, all of the hot air is blown out of the grille on the card backplate. My CPU now runs a lot cooler than it did before and the case temperatures have been reduced as well.

The xtx is the most suitable high performance card for a shuttle IMO, the only problem is the noise. It is way too loud.

I posted these tests i done myself in a different thread..
These tests were done in my shuttle sn26p with amd 4400 x2 cpu clocked at (2400mhz) and 2GB of ram..

I have both..Two 7800gtx sli and single xt1900xt-x..

Half-life 2 lost coast =
98fps at 1920x1200 4xaa 8xaf Two 7800gtx in sli (485/1300)
72fps at 1920x1200 4xaa 8xaf xt1900xt-x (690/795)
