I have a new X1900XT and in the overdrive panel it reports the card is currently running at 500/600 but will go to an expected 625/725.

I'm just making sure that this this to be expected, along the lines of intel speedstep for CPU's ?
 
yeah those are the 2D speeds mate, as soon as go into a game or any other 3D application, the requested speeds will kick in
