I have the gfx card and tft as in the title of the thread, when I put the dvi conection to the tft throught the dvi port directly under the usb/network and other ports on the io panel I get random black lines shooting accross any screen with a white background. Now when I change the dvi port for the monitor picture is fine, as in use the port to the right hand side of the back of the gfx card. Looked at the ati page and it said lots about all differnt kinds of problems that can cause the lines. Can it be that the ports above the dvi conection cause the signal to the dvi port at that side to be corrupted. Any one else had problems like this?

Board is an msi k8n diamond
gfx sapphire x1900xtx
hiper 560w psu
xp pro new install, up to date
cat 6.2
neovo f419 new yesterday and all good pixels, yey my first tft, I lke it it looks nice
whole system is less than 5 days old.

Hi

Your post isn't clear - do you mean that you get a good display with one of the DVI outputs on the graphics card (the one to the right) but a poor display on the other DVI port?

If so, I'm not quite sure what would cause this

Yeh I get a good clear display with the dv on the right but the one on the left bellow the network/usb and other conections give me random black lines that shoot accrosss the screen. They start at the top and move down, 3 to four lines until they start from the top again. Only seem to happen on a white bg though like in office or ie. Other than the lines the display is clear, and it dose nopt seem to happen in games either.

I meant to try another monitor on your card

Could you link to the thread on the site that you're talking about? I tried a quick search for "black lines", "black lines X1900", "black lines X1900XT" and "black lines X1900XTX" and I couldn't find anything relevant :)

No link for black lines, just a general tft problems guide. Tried card on a crt and it was ok but not got another tft to try. The bit with black lines says,

This document outlines common display issues which may occur when using DVI Flat Panels and the steps that can be taken to try and resolve them.

In some instances, when using a DVI Flat Panel you may experience one or more of the following symptom:

No video or black screen before Windows loads
Incorrect size of text while the system starts
Monitor may report an incorrect display mode
Scrambled or blanking video within Windows
Horizontal lines, or artifacts in the display
Each of these symptoms can potentially be caused for a variety of reasons. The following are the most common sources:

Issue with the panel's connection to the graphics card
Incorrect monitor type selected in Windows
Refresh rate is too high/incorrect
Selected display resolution exceeds panel's capabilities
Unsupported graphics card configuration
Issue with the system BIOS or its configuration
Conflict with USB support from motherboard

Hi

Do the lines only happen in windows? If so, you could try checking "Reduce DVI frequency on high-resolution displays" or "Alternate DVI operational mode". These are in the ATI Options for your graphics card. Check that you've got the right display selected too
