 Right tried the following because Sapphire x1900xtx keeps freezing and either vpu recover rescues it or the system has to be reset after a total freeze.

Card crashes playing games but will run the atifact error test with ati tray tools forever with no problems, run bf2 or bf42, doom3 any fps and its falling down anywhere between 5 minutes and an hour into playing. Temps do not seem too high, fan and hs clean as they could be looked through with a torch no fluff or dust in the fins at all. Tried a driver reinstall 4 times, direct x diag tests all fine but did a reinstall anyhow just to try, windows reinstall, cleaned registry. Power is fine, cpu is fine, memory checks out ok it all falls over when I try to play. All drivers and bios upto date card has stock bios and has never been clocked. The card had been running faultless for 18 months prior to falling over.

System
MSI k8n diamond
3700+ sd
Hiper type r 560w
2gb kingmax ddr

running card at 1280*1024 on a 19 inch tft @ 60hz

tried turning all performance down to nothing aa ect
tried running at low res, although why should I this card should handle 1280*1024 forever and a day
cpu is over clocked but tried at default speeds card still falls over
tried the 99-101 pcie speed change, tried turning off vpu recover, tried both together
tried just ccc or just tray tools and drivers with no ccc
tried everything I can think of anyone any other ideas or dose it look like its borked, dont much fancy having to deal with sapphire for an rma but might have to.

Anyone have any other ideas of what I could try to fix the problem or dose it seem borked?

Also anyone know how long the warranty was for a sapphire x1900xtx I cant remember or find the details but im sure it was longer than 12 months.

Mail from Sapphire about warranty says that it is for 2 years and the point of purchase shop should honour the warranty so I should not have to deal with sapphire if the shop will take the return, finger crossed and all that.

Have you checked the voltage its running using ATi Tool?

Also you should try 109/110Mhz as well, but to be honest it shouldn't make a difference since you've been running it fine for 18 months.

Perhaps the paste they used have dried out on the core? Do you get any indication it is going to crash?

Have you applied any updates recently (DX9 june/july update), windows update, or added/changed any components?

Matthew

It giveas no indication just falls over like it has been shot, not tried the 110 ect pcie frequency and as for the core paste maybe but I don't want to disturb the hs&f if I have to RMA the peeps might get all fussy with me.

Temps and voltage draw from ati tools

Temps and voltage draw from ati tools when running the 3d view not artifact scan, anyone know if these are ok or higher than normal?

Volt Regs hitting 74
GPU hitting 89
GPU enviro hitting 59
Max current draw is 32.07

Anyone do the above temps look ok or could it be a cooling problem that is making the card fall over?, I know the gpu temp seems normal enough but should it go so high only running the tray tools 3d view and also should the voltage regs get as hot as they do?
