I do not plan on changing my motherboard; graphics card and memory for the next year (see specs in my sig). Will it be worthwhile replacing my 64 3200+ to keep me going until my next big Vista/platform upgrade. I have been unable to find any reviews of the X1900xtx with different CPU's to see how they scale. Would a CPU upgrade make much of a difference with this card based upon current games and releases for the next year?
I am looking at spending as little as possible so my 2 options are the 64 X2 3800+ for £100 or a 64 3700+ for £58. I will be overclocking so that needs to be taken into consideration. I only use this PC for gaming and nothing else. I have my reservations about dual cores for gaming as there have been so few games that have been coded to take advantage of it. Future game releases may actually take advantage of dual core.
