x1900xtx squealing capacitors? (rma possibly?)

Noticed my x1900 has been doing this a lot in cod2 lately, and for some reason or other cod2 seems to be the only game that cna get my card loaded upto 96c. :eek:

Usually take a good half hour of play then i'll notice the sound getting higher in pitch, now and again it causes alockup in the game and i have to reboot to get out of it. And from what ive read this can be a sign of the capacitors on the verge of failing, is it worth rmaing this? Havn't been too impressed from what ive read of ocuk's rma service, few people have said all they do is loop 3d mark then if it passed that the cards "fine and dandy"?

Secondly if i do rma can i get a different variation of the card even if i have to pay extra? Would probably prefer a his version with more efficient cooling.

At this time, we are recommending that you get the card replaced. As it is probably new, it may be best to send it back to the place of purchase or reseller for a new one. If this is not possible and the card is built by ATI, you can submit the RMA request from our website to arrange for the replacement.

my first x1900 had the noise, i sent it back to ocuk and they sent me another (after a right fuss with the RMA) and its exactly the same and others are having this issue too, but the lock ups youre having are a bit worrying though, ive not got cod2 to test it with but try running ati tool> check for artifacts and see if the noise is there
 
a capacitor that screams? :confused: . How can that happen, as far as i was aware they are simply two metal plates with a dielectric insulator in the middle that held charge? No physical movement is there?
 
Any chance you could record this noise ..


I might not be able to hear mine making it over the noise of my pc lol..
