Hey All

Just went over to Vista 32 and using ATI 7.1 drivers i am getting really bad performance.

Like 50fps in css when before I got 100fps.

Also my battlefield 2 and pretty much every other game has suffered a huge drop in performance.

I am running a Sapphire X1900XTX 512mb and everything ran fine under xp.

Is this just a case of bad drivers or what...

Thanks, Sam

7.2 drivers are out

you also need to install other drivers not just graphics

such as chipset drivers, etc , etc

you also need to install direct X 9c (this may sound stupid since you have dx 10 but just do it)

My bad, I am running 7.2

Also on the Microsoft site for Direct X 9 it says its only for xp and below based systems

pah, younguns today. Think they've got it bad using an ATi card under Vista. When I were a lad, I bought an 8800GTS after being told it was designed for Vista. 5 months later and they still hadn't released a decent set of drivers.

You bought a DX10 card to run on a DX10 OS?

What were you thinking?!?

Crazyness!

Edit: On topic, my X1900 runs fine under Vista32, although running in X-Fire mode with my 2nd card gives somewhat dodgy performance with 7.2's

i have been contemplating getting a second x1900 because they can do crossfire internally but i cant justify spending £130 for a second hand dx9 card that will only add like 10-15 fps in most games when i could spend £230 and get a dx 10 card and get much more fps, i would strongly suggest selling your second x1900xt whilst its still worth something then in 2 months sell your other x1900xt and get a dx10 card

Same problem, performance is crap for me in vista. Under XP I typically get 70-100FPS in BF2142, Vista I saw as low as 12FPS! I'm sticking with XP now until I am 'Forced' onto Vista for the latest games.
