X1950 catalyst 8.1 help needed

Hi,
sorry as I have posted this earlier in a rather different way but with no reply.I tried to upgrade my drivers to my PCI-E 1950 to 8.1 but although windows recognises the card it wants to copy the atinavt2.sys files from somewhere and i don't know where to find them.I have used driver cleaner on the old drivers and also tried to go back 7.12 and 7.11 but i'm having problems with those now too.Tried contacting ati but i only get some automated reply.I have also updated bios and other drivers but still nothing.Please try and help however small.

Yeah i ran the driver cleaner in safe mode and have tried it several times.I have succesfully installed the drivers from my install disc but they are old,the problem seems to be with windows(xp sp2) but i'm no computer expert and the ati people are no help really.

when it complains about the missing file, can you find it somewhere within

c:\ati

that's where the setup program usually extracts all the files to.....

I have just searched my C drive and found atinavt2.sys in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers.Can I instruct it to copy them from there?sorry if i'm being dumb but I always approach these things with caution.I can also find atinavt2.SYS in the downloaded file on my desktop but it seems like the installation doesn't want the .SYS in upper case.

I really appreciate your help

windows doesn't usually care about the case of filenames?? just point it towards the folder you have downloaded - you are using the drivers direct from ati.amd.com?

btw the 8.2s have just come out. :p

Drivers are from ati.com and I have tried the8.2 catalyst but the same happens but i'll try what you suggested and let you know.

Hi Marc,
I copied the files from the windows folder as it wouldn't let me do it from the ati one so jobs sorted mate.This is the first time I have used driver cleaner and strangely the first time I have encountered problems!!
